BC High vs Don Bosco Prep Recap

BC High hosted Don Bosco Prep at Matthews Arena on the campus of Northeastern University on Saturday. These two teams both won their state championship last year. BC High won Massachusetts Super 8 championship and Don Bosco won the New Jersey Private school championship. Both teams enter the season with high hopes, both looking to repeat their magic from last year. Don Bosco was victorious over Catholic Memorial Friday night with a score of 1-0.

The starting goalies in the game were both freshman, Ethan Marich in net for Don Bosco and Tom Kiesewetter for BC High. As the game started, both teams had generated chances, but Don Bosco was the first to the scoreboard. A shot from behind the goal line by Joseph Caldiero made its way through the Eagles goaltender and fell into the net to put hem up 1-0. This was Caldiero's first varsity goal. BC High answered not too long after as Colin Norton sniped one in from the high slot after receiving a pass from Nick Martin. The end of the first period ended in a 1-1 tie.

The second period was all BC High as they started fast with a goal from Declan Joyce as he one-timed a pass from Max Dasilva in the slot. The Eagles were not done either, as Matt Keohane sniped one off of the back crossbar from the top of the circle to make the score 3-1. BC High was not done yet for the second period as Max Dasilva corralled a puck in the slot and slid it over Colin Norton for his second goal of the day.

The third period was more evenly played than the second period. Don Bosco tried to pull closer all period, but could not find the back of the net until they managed to get one shorthanded with two minutes remaining. They had offensive zone pressure for the remaining two minutes, but did not find the back of the net until Michael Rubin scored as the clock expired.

Final score: BC High 4 Don Bosco 3

BC High remains undefeated on the season and Don Bosco now has a record of 4-2.

Top Players:

BC High:

Josh Milso:

Josh Milso was a solid d-man all game long, as he played with good pace. He was matched up against Don Bosco's top line most of the game. He did not rush the puck too much, but when he did he possessed it well and looked up ice making good outlet passes. He handled high stress situations well in his own zone, not rushing his passes.

Declan Joyce:

Declan played with good speed all game, setting up a few scoring chances along with scoring one goal. He back checked well throughout the game and played on the teams first powerplay.

Colin Norton:

Norton had two goals on the day as he played on a line with Declan Joyce and Max Dasilva. This line dominated in the offensive zone and Dasilva found the soft spots in coverage resulting in his two goals.

Don Bosco:

Connor Sedlak:

Connor leads Don Bosco in points and was clearly the most skilled forward on their team. He is quick and uses his speed on the rush. He was held off the scoreboard, but had a good showing on Saturday.
